Anthony Smith, Director, Risk Management Division, OACFO

Anthony is a director within HUD’s Office of the Chief Financial Officer. He leads a team that evaluates and assesses HUD’s risks, operations, and controls to ensure compliance with housing and other regulations. His team’s primary role is to provide independent, objective assurance and to offer innovative solutions designed to add value and improve HUD’s operations. His ultimate goals are to safeguard taxpayers’ money and promote transparency, integrity, and accountability in HUD’s operations.

Anthony’s career spans over 20 years and includes military service, private sector consulting, inspector general work, and over five years at HUD. He is a Certified Internal Auditor, holds a certification in Risk Management Assurance, and is a Certified Government Financial Manager. Anthony holds a Masters of Accounting from the University of Connecticut. When not auditing, Anthony enjoys cooking for his family and crafting cocktails, with a particular passion for collecting fine rums. Additionally, he cherishes spending time at his cabin in the woods, where he relishes disturbing the peace at his target shooting range.
