Tuesday, June 6, 2023 (8:00 am - 5:00 pm Pacific)

  • Session 1 – NSPIRE and Other REAC News
    This session will cover any updates coming from the Real Estate Assessment System. This discussion will primarily cover the implementation of the NSPIRE physical assessment system, EVMS and an update on any other HUD/REAC Initiatives.

  • Session 2 – REAC Update
    Session will consist of an update from REAC on current issues, information related to the REAC review process as well as other pertinent issues.

  • Session 3 – Public Housing Update
    This session will cover timely topics associated with the Public Housing program. Topics covered in this session include: • Public Housing Due From / Due To Transactions & PHA Compliance on the Use of Funds • Funding Levels and Eligible Use of Funds • Updates to Section 3 Reporting • Changes to the Federal Micro-Purchase and Simplified Acquisition Thresholds • Personal Property Requirements

  • Session 4 – Voucher & FSS
    This session will address current voucher funding levels, changes in VMS and FDS reporting. Will include any updates to compliance supplement and relevant audit strategies.

  • Session 5 – Quality Assurance Subsystem

  • Session 7 – Transitioning to the Moving to Work Program for MTW Expansion PHAs
    This session provides information on several topics associated with transitioning to the Moving to Work Program for MTW Expansion PHAs. Topics covered in this session include: • Eligible use of funds; • Voucher Management System (VMS) reporting; • Financial Data Schedule (FDS) reporting; and • Program targets.

  • Session 8 – Accounting Update
    Update on GAAP Changes: • GASB 87 (Leases)/96 (Subscriptions) • Component Units • Compensated Absences Accounting Issues: • Repositioning Options (RAD/Section 18/Section 22) • Voucher Utilization (Two Year Tool)

  • Session 9 – Audit Update
    This session will include any relevant changes in Audit Standards affecting PHA Audits. Will be addressing GAAS and GAGAS and the pending changes to Quality Control standards

  • Session 10 – Q&A
    This session will be used to address all remaining questions from the audience that have not been previously answered or discussed.

CPE INFORMATION
  • CPE Credit: Attendees can earn up to 16 CPE credits. In accordance with the standards for the National Registry of CPE Sponsors, CPE Credits are granted based on a 50-minute hour.
  • Instructional methods: Group Live and Group Internet Based
  • Learning Objectives: Provide an understanding on a variety of program requirements
  • Program Knowledge Level / Prerequisites: This course is update-level content. Attendees should have a basic knowledge of Public Housing. No prerequisites are required.
  • Advanced Preparation: None. Attendees will be given the opportunity to download digital materials
  • Refunds and Cancellations:
    • Webinars: All cancellation requests must be received via email (info@ahacpa.org). Registration fees are fully refundable provided the request is received a minimum of 24 hours prior to the course start time. Individuals cancelling less than 24 hours prior to the course start time will not receive a refund, but will be provided access to the course materials and the recorded version of the course. CPE/Attendance credit is not provided for watching the recording.
    • In-Person Courses: Registration fees are fully refundable provided the request is received at least three weeks prior to the course. Requests received after this date, but one week before the course will receive a refund less an administration fee of $100. Due to financial obligations incurred by AHACPA, no refunds will be issued for cancellation requests received less than a week before the course.

In the unlikely event that AHACPA must cancel a course, all registrations fees paid to AHACPA by attendees will be refunded in full.


AHACPA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.NASBARegistry.org
